Saudi Arabia is preparing to redefine the future of Formula 1 with a circuit unlike anything the sport has ever seen. Located just outside Riyadh, the upcoming Qiddiya Speed Park will become the centerpiece of the massive Qiddiya entertainment city project, combining motorsport, technology, and entertainment into one futuristic destination.
Unlike traditional F1 venues built around existing cities, Qiddiya Speed Park is being designed as a complete experience. The circuit will feature 21 corners, high-speed sections, and a record-breaking 108 meters of elevation change — the largest on the Formula 1 calendar.
Drivers will race through the desert landscape at speeds exceeding 325 km/h, navigating a challenging layout where precision and bravery will be more important than ever. Instead of being surrounded by traditional concrete barriers, parts of the circuit will feature open desert scenery, creating a unique challenge where every mistake could become costly.
The most spectacular element of the track is the opening corner, known as “The Blade.” Standing approximately 20 stories high, this dramatic first turn rises above the circuit and will include a concert venue underneath, along with a futuristic glass-bottom swimming pool overlooking the racing action.
But Qiddiya Speed Park is not only about Formula 1. The circuit will be integrated into Six Flags Qiddiya, which is set to become home to the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster. The vision is clear: Saudi Arabia is not simply building a racetrack — it is creating a motorsport theme park on an entirely different scale.
The project is being developed with input from F1 circuit designer Alex Wurz and renowned track architect Hermann Tilke, two names with extensive experience creating modern racing venues around the world.
Saudi Arabia sees Qiddiya Speed Park as a major step toward becoming one of the world’s leading motorsport destinations. The country has already expanded its presence in global racing through Formula 1, Formula E, Dakar Rally, and other international events.
More than just a racing venue, Qiddiya is planned as a new city focused on entertainment, sports, and advanced technology. Formula 1 will be one of its biggest attractions, but the ambition goes far beyond the racetrack.
With its extreme elevation changes, futuristic design, and entertainment-first approach, Qiddiya Speed Park could become one of the most talked-about circuits in F1 history.
