Chrysler, a brand under Stellantis, has announced a safety recall involving 48,777 vehicles due to a potential issue with the rear seat belt retractor mechanism. The problem could cause the seat belt to become twisted and prevent it from retracting properly, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

The recall affects the following models:

• Dodge Hornet (Model Year 2023–2025)

• Alfa Romeo Tonale (Model Year 2023–2026)

According to Chrysler, the issue involves the outer rear seat belts, which may become tangled or twisted during use. If this happens, the retractor mechanism may not function correctly, potentially reducing the effectiveness of the restraint system in the event of a collision.

To fix the problem, authorized dealers will replace the affected rear seat belt retractor components free of charge for vehicle owners.

This is not the first time Chrysler has faced a seat belt-related recall. Previously, the company recalled around 50,000 Chrysler Pacifica minivans from the 2017–2018 model years due to a separate issue involving the second-row seat belt buckle, which could potentially detach during sharp maneuvers.

Chrysler has advised owners of affected vehicles to contact their local dealers once recall notifications are issued to schedule the repair.
