Formula E is officially entering a new chapter. Ahead of the debut of the GEN4 era, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has unveiled a refreshed visual identity and redesigned logo, marking a major change in how the electric racing championship presents itself to the world.
Introduced on September 23, 2026, the new identity is designed to reflect Formula E’s increasingly fast, dynamic and performance-focused direction. Formula E says the refresh represents an evolution of its previous identity, bringing the championship into a new era that is more modern and relevant to motorsport, streaming, social media, gaming and wider pop culture.
The most obvious change is, of course, the new Formula E logo. The design features a more angular appearance with a sense of movement, while incorporating hidden elements representing the letters “F” and “E.” The design was created to communicate speed, forward movement and the increasingly competitive nature of the championship.
But this is not simply a matter of replacing the logo. Formula E has also refreshed its typography, colour palette, motion graphics and broadcast graphics package, with the aim of making the championship more dynamic and instantly recognizable across television broadcasts as well as smartphone screens.
The timing is no coincidence. The new identity arrives as Formula E prepares to welcome GEN4, the most powerful and fastest generation of electric race cars in the championship’s history.
The GEN4 car can produce up to 600 kW, or more than 800 hp, in Attack Mode, reach speeds of more than 335 km/h, accelerate from 0–100 km/h in around 1.8 seconds, and go from 0–200 km/h in approximately 4.4 seconds. It will also become the first single seater racing car to feature permanent all wheel drive.
Formula E is scheduled to begin the GEN4 era during the 2026/27 season, with the opening race taking place in Jeddah on December 18–19, 2026. The new season will also feature Formula E’s biggest calendar yet, with 21 races across 13 events, including new venues such as the Circuit of the Americas in Austin and Zandvoort.
The racing format itself is also changing. Formula E will introduce E-PrixUnleashed, a 30-minute race featuring a high-downforce configuration and no pit boost, designed to showcase the full potential of GEN4 in a more direct and aggressive racing format.
As a result, the new logo is much more than a cosmetic exercise. Formula E is attempting to align its new visual identity with significantly faster cars, a larger calendar and more demanding racing formats.
The GEN4 era has yet to officially begin, but Formula E has already sent a clear message: the next chapter is not intended to feel like a minor evolution. It wants to look like a major step forward.
What do you think of Formula E’s new logo? Does it look more modern and suited to the GEN4 era, or did the previous logo have more character? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
