Lexus has officially unveiled the 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package for the North American market, bringing a fresh dose of exclusivity to the brand’s compact luxury sedan lineup. The special edition was revealed as the grand finale of the Lexus IS 25th Heritage Tour, held in Miami, Florida, celebrating more than two decades of the IS nameplate.
First introduced in 1998, the Lexus IS, known as the Toyota Altezza in Japan until 2005 has become one of Lexus’ most recognizable models. Now entering its 25th anniversary era, the IS has gone through three generations, with the current third-generation XE30 model remaining in production since 2013.
Although the IS is one of the oldest players in the premium compact sedan segment, Lexus has continued to keep it competitive through regular updates. The latest refresh for the 2026 model year brought a redesigned front fascia, improved interior features, and mechanical refinements to maintain its appeal against rivals from Germany and the United States.
For the 2027 model year, the Lexus IS Special Appearance Package is based on the IS 350 F Sport and combines sporty performance with a more exclusive appearance. Under the hood, it retains the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 311 horsepower, allowing the sedan to accelerate from 0–60 mph in approximately 5.9 seconds.
A Unique Appearance With Premium Details
The biggest attraction of this limited-edition model is its exclusive styling package. Lexus gives the IS a bold new identity through a special exterior color called “Envious”, a striking shade of green designed to make the sedan stand out among traditional luxury cars.
The exterior is further enhanced with 19-inch forged BBS alloy wheels finished in black, creating a more aggressive and performance-oriented appearance. Inside the cabin, Lexus combines luxury and sportiness with black NuLuxe seats, Ultrasuede inserts, green contrast stitching, and satin chrome trim details.
The Special Appearance Package also includes the Handling Package, featuring Adaptive Variable Suspension, Drive Mode Select, and a Torsen limited-slip rear differential for the rear-wheel-drive version, giving drivers a sharper and more engaging driving experience.
Technology features are also extensive. The package includes the Technology Package with advanced driver assistance systems such as Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, and Front Cross-Traffic Alert. Other premium equipment includes triple-beam LED headlights, a sunroof, Intuitive Parking Assist, Panoramic View Monitor, power rear window shades, a Mark Levinson premium audio system, and a Smart Access Key Card.
Limited Production and Pricing
The 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package will be available through Lexus dealerships in North America later this year. Pricing starts at $61,485 for the rear-wheel-drive version and rises to $63,095 for the all-wheel-drive model.
However, exclusivity comes with limited availability. Lexus will produce only 350 units, making this special edition a rare collectible for enthusiasts who appreciate the combination of Japanese craftsmanship, luxury, and traditional naturally aspirated performance.
The Lexus IS Special Appearance Package feels like a celebration of everything that makes the IS unique. While many modern luxury sedans are moving toward smaller turbocharged engines and electrification, Lexus continues to offer a naturally aspirated V6 with rear-wheel-drive capability a formula that appeals to driving enthusiasts.
The “Envious” green paint may not be for everyone, but it perfectly matches the personality of the IS: different, understated, and built for those who want something beyond the usual choices from German luxury brands. With only 350 units available, this could become one of the more interesting Lexus IS editions for collectors in the future.
