McLaren Formula 1 Team has officially secured the future of Lando Norris after the British driver signed a long-term contract extension that will keep him with the Woking-based squad until at least the end of the 2030 season. The agreement also includes a multi-year extension option, opening the possibility for Norris to remain with McLaren beyond that period.
The announcement was made directly by Norris in front of McLaren staff and team members at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking. The new deal strengthens the long-standing relationship between Norris and McLaren, a partnership that began when he entered the team’s young driver program in 2017.
“McLaren has felt like home since the very beginning. Watching the team grow and compete at the highest level has given me even more motivation to continue this journey together. I’m extremely excited about the years ahead and looking forward to fighting for more victories,” Norris said.
Norris made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2019 after progressing through the team’s junior program. Since then, he has developed into one of the most valuable drivers on the grid and has played a key role in McLaren’s return to the front of Formula 1 competition.
With more than 160 Grand Prix appearances, Norris has become one of the most experienced drivers in McLaren’s Formula 1 history. His consistency, speed, and ability to deliver strong performances have made him a central figure in the team’s long-term championship ambitions.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown welcomed the contract extension and described Norris as a crucial part of the team’s future project.
“Lando is a core member of the McLaren family. His commitment and dedication have helped take us to where we are today. Securing his future until 2030 gives the team tremendous stability as we continue building success in Formula 1,” Brown said.
Team Principal Andrea Stella also highlighted the importance of maintaining stability within the driver lineup as McLaren prepares for the next era of Formula 1.
“Lando’s combination of talent, hard work, and racing maturity is incredibly valuable. Having him committed for the long term, alongside a strong team structure, gives us great confidence as we face new regulations and future challenges,” Stella explained.
The new agreement further confirms McLaren’s commitment to building a championship-winning project around Norris. By securing its leading driver and maintaining a stable management structure, the team aims to remain a consistent contender against Formula 1 giants such as Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes.
For Norris, the contract represents another important step in his career as he continues chasing the biggest achievement in motorsport — becoming a Formula 1 World Champion with the team that believed in him from the beginning.
