Known by his nickname “Ace,” Robin Raikkonen will officially become part of the Red Bull Junior Team from 2027 onwards, as the Austrian squad begins supporting his development toward the highest levels of motorsport.

For years, Red Bull Junior Team has been regarded as one of the strongest driver development programs in Formula 1. The academy has produced some of the biggest names in racing, including Formula 1 champions such as Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel, along with top level drivers like Carlos Sainz.

Robin Raikkonen has already impressed in various karting championships, showing strong pace, racing ability, and natural talent. Red Bull has identified him as one of the most promising young drivers of his generation and will provide the support needed for his continued progression.

His father, Kimi Raikkonen, expressed his excitement about Robin joining the prestigious program.

“We are all very excited and enthusiastic that Robin has been selected to continue his racing career as a member of the Red Bull Junior Team. Laurent Mekies and everyone at Red Bull have been very supportive throughout all of our discussions.”

The 2007 Formula 1 World Champion believes Red Bull offers the right environment to help his son develop his skills over the coming years.

“They offer an exciting and comprehensive program to develop and nurture Robin’s progress, giving him all the experience needed to grow his natural talent, which has already been clearly shown through his karting efforts so far.”

Kimi also highlighted the success of Red Bull’s junior system and the challenge ahead for his son.

“The Red Bull Junior Team has achieved incredible success over many years. Alumni include Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen among many others. Robin joins this prestigious program with humility and will dedicate all his efforts to proving the trust Red Bull has placed in him.”

Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies also praised Robin’s potential, describing him as a talented young driver with impressive qualities both on and off the track.

“Robin has shown outstanding ability in kart racing. His speed, racing skills, and natural talent have made him one of the most promising young drivers in his age group.”

However, Mekies emphasized that Red Bull’s approach will focus on long-term development rather than putting unnecessary pressure on the young driver.

“Our goal is to develop him step by step, without placing unnecessary pressure on him. The road in motorsport is long, and we will give him the time, support, and resources needed to maximize his potential.”

The arrival of Robin Raikkonen at Red Bull Junior Team immediately attracts attention from Formula 1 fans. With his father’s legendary career and Red Bull’s history of producing world class drivers, expectations will naturally be high.
