Genesis is preparing its most ambitious luxury SUV yet, and one of its most distinctive features will reportedly be a set of rear-hinged “coach doors” inspired by Rolls-Royce. The upcoming flagship SUV is expected to become the new top model in Genesis’ lineup, positioned above the current GV80 and designed to compete directly with the world’s most prestigious luxury SUVs.
The move signals Genesis’ intention to move beyond traditional premium competition and enter the ultra-luxury segment dominated by brands such as Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
A Touch of Rolls-Royce Elegance

The standout design element will be the use of coach doors, also known as suicide doors, where the rear doors open from the rear rather than the front. This configuration has long been associated with chauffeur-driven luxury vehicles because it creates a wider and more dramatic entrance for passengers.
Rolls-Royce has made this door design one of its signature styling features across models such as the Phantom, Ghost, and Cullinan. Genesis appears ready to adopt a similar approach, but with its own interpretation focused on modern Korean luxury.
The coach doors are expected to enhance the feeling of entering a private lounge rather than simply getting into an SUV.
Genesis’ New Luxury Direction

The flagship SUV is expected to sit at the top of Genesis’ range, potentially carrying the name GV90. It is being developed as a larger and more luxurious alternative to the GV80, offering a more spacious cabin, advanced technology, and a premium passenger experience.
Genesis has already introduced its luxury design philosophy through models like the Genesis Motor G90 sedan and GV80 SUV. The new flagship SUV will take that philosophy further with a focus on comfort, craftsmanship, and exclusivity.
Inside, the vehicle is expected to feature high-quality materials, advanced displays, premium seating configurations, and technology aimed at rear-seat passengers — an important priority for the ultra-luxury market.
Electric Power and Premium Performance
The new flagship SUV is also expected to follow Genesis’ electrification strategy. While official specifications have not yet been fully revealed, reports suggest the model could be based on Hyundai Motor Group’s next-generation electric vehicle architecture.
A powerful electric drivetrain would allow Genesis to compete with luxury electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and Range Rover Electric, combining silent performance with limousine-like comfort.
A New Challenge to European Luxury Brands
By introducing Rolls-Royce-inspired coach doors, Genesis is sending a clear message: the brand wants to be recognized not only as a premium alternative to German luxury brands, but as a serious contender in the ultra-luxury market.
The upcoming flagship SUV could become a major milestone for Genesis, showing that luxury design is no longer limited to traditional European manufacturers.
If successful, the GV90 could redefine expectations for Korean luxury vehicles and become Genesis’ strongest statement yet in the global premium automotive industry.
