Former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter Richard Hammond has been fined after being caught speeding twice within just three weeks in Herefordshire, England.

The popular automotive personality was ordered to pay a total fine of £999 (around $1,300 or approximately Rp20.8 million) after admitting to two separate speeding offences involving his personal vehicles.

Two Speeding Offences in Just 20 Days

The first incident occurred on December 2, when Hammond was caught driving his Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo at 68 mph (109 km/h) in a 50 mph (80 km/h) speed limit zone.

Just 20 days later, on December 22, Hammond was caught again, this time behind the wheel of his Bentley Continental GT. He was recorded travelling at 82 mph (131 km/h) in a 70 mph (110 km/h) zone.

Court Penalties

The case was handled at Telford Magistrates’ Court, where Hammond received several penalties for the two offences.

The court ordered him to pay:

• £999 in fines, made up of two separate penalties of £333 and £666.
• A total payment of £1,771, including £240 in court costs and a £532 victim surcharge.
• Seven penalty points added to his driving licence.

Hammond pleaded guilty to both offences through his legal representative.

Police Faced Difficulties Finding His Address

The process was reportedly delayed because authorities initially struggled to deliver the legal documents. Hammond owns multiple properties, and early notices were returned with the message “addressee gone away.”

Police eventually located his main address in Wales, allowing the case to proceed.

Known worldwide for his work in Top Gear and The Grand Tour, Richard Hammond has built a reputation as one of the most recognisable figures in the automotive world. He is also well known for his passion for performance cars, with his personal collection featuring a variety of sports cars, classics, and luxury vehicles.

Although Hammond has spent years testing some of the fastest cars in the world on television, this time he found himself on the wrong side of the law for exceeding the speed limit on public roads.
